My name is Joan. I’ve got Master of Maritime Sciences from the University of Antwerp. Before joining Welhunt, I have 8 years’ experiences working in the field of chartering.

Welhunt is a dynamic and growing company. I found it very exciting to be able to be part of this growth and work with like-minded people. I just started my journey with Welhunt this year as a Chartering manager in the Singapore office. At my role, I strive to make the shipping operation as efficient as possible. This means negotiating strong freight contracts but also being able to analyze and understand all parts and details of the shipping process. Being part and having a complete understanding of the process gives me the ability to fine tune the way we approach and negotiate shipping contracts.

At Welhunt, working together with your team and other teams is very important. Working in a fast paced environment, you need to be able to work fast, roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. During my time at Welhunt, I learned to be more assertive and communicate more with my colleagues. The more we work together as a team, the more we are able to learn from each other and grow our skills and knowledge together.

The most impressive at Welhunt is the enthusiasm of the people I work with! At Welhunt the work culture is very much focused on motivation and team spirit. I am very proud to be part of a company which is proud of their employees.

What is the most meaningful part of your job?

In my role as Chartering manager I strive to make the shipping operation as efficient as possible.  This means negotiating strong freight contracts but also being able to analyze and understand all parts and details of the shipping process. Being part and having a complete understanding of the process gives me the ability to fine tune the way we approach and negotiate shipping contracts.

How have you developed your skills through your time at Welhunt? And what are they?

In Welhunt working together with your team and other teams is very important. We are working in a fast paced environment where you very often have to rely on other people's skills and experience. During my time at Welhunt I learned to be more assertive and communicate more with my colleagues. The more we work together as a team, the more we are able to learn from each other and grow our skills and knowledge together.
