LI, CHING- WEN (BEATRICE)

SALES ASSISTANT & DEPUTY MANAGER DOCUMENTATION DEPARTMENT

“At Welhunt, we are not alone, we are all trying our best to learn from the experience”

I am Bee, based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and from Welhunt’s Taiwan Documentation Team. This is the 4th year I joined Welhunt and also my first job after moving back to my home town to live with my family.

It's a very special opportunity to be a part of the Documentation Team. I firstly took interest in the Sale position of Welhunt Agriculture Division, however I was transferred to Welhunt Steel Division later, and finally I was invited to join the Energy Division to start the beginning of my journey at Welhunt as a Sales Assistant. Since coal trading is totally a new industry with me, it takes comparatively longer time to build up new business in bulk trading. In the beginning, it took a long period for me to consider my position and actual value in the team by trying lots of different tasks and it didn’t go very smoothly. One day, accidently, we faced a sudden shortage of people in the Documentation, therefore, I decided to support the work of Documentation and pursue this job until now.

Working in the Documentation Team and as a Sales Assistant, I take care of different kinds of tasks to achieve the successful performance of every shipment with my team by acting like a bridge of Commercial, Finance, Chartering, Shipping Operations, other offices and also counter-parties. By time, daily communication and the experiences passed through together, I can feel the trust from the internal and our counter-parties. The trust doesn’t make the obstacles which are the nature of trading disappear but it does bring me the strength to keep walking forward to pass all challenges. Working in a team brings me more positive energy everyday at work.

Welhunt is not only a workplace, but also a place where we meet and connect people. I am blessed to be part of Welhunt to share a piece of life of all intimate team members. All of the challenges (in work or in the personal life) we passed through together is the most memorable and grateful time for me.

Why do you choose to be a part of the Documentation Team at Welhunt?

For me, it’s very a special opportunity to be a part of the Documentation Team. When I first had the job interview in Welhunt, I was interested in Sales position of Welhunt Agriculture dept. in Taipei, and then was transferred to Welhunt Steel dept. but somehow at the end I was invited to be a part of Welhunt Energy team and started my path from Sales Assistant since coal trading is a new world for me and it takes comparatively longer time to build up new business in bulk trading. At that time, our team had around 10 people and worked separately in Taiwan and Vietnam. In the beginning, it took a long period for me to consider my position and actual value in the team by trying lots of different tasks and it didn’t go very smoothly. One day, accidently, we faced a sudden shortage of people in the Documentation team and only lasted one colleague less than one year experience can operate the shipments. Seeing that unexpected situation, I decided to support the work of Documentation and it continues until now…

What is your biggest achievement over the time working at Welhunt?

The trust. Working in Documentation Team and as a Sales Assistant, I take care of different kinds of tasks to achieve the successful performance of every shipment with team by acting like a bridge of Commercial, Finance, Chartering, Shipping Operations, other offices and also counter-parties. By time, daily communication and the experiences passed through together, I can feel the trust from the internal and our counter-parties. The trust doesn’t make the obstacles which is the nature of trading disappear but it does bring me the strength to keep walking forward to pass all challenges.

What keeps you productive everyday at work?

Also the trust and team members in Documentation. Understanding that Company and customers rely on us to secure the performance of shipments and realizing that our job does make things different significantly, it moves me forward. Although, it’s not always happy hours every day, when I think how to deal with the problems I face or other colleagues meet, the time passes. In some cases, if I really meet the difficulties and got stuck, putting a bit more attention on other colleagues in the Documentation team help me to see a full picture: we are not alone and we are all trying our best to learn from the experience.

What is your most memorable time during the time working here?

Company is a place where we meet and connect people. Most of the days, we get along with the colleagues longer than our family and everybody has the different life path and stories. I am blessed to be part of Welhunt to share a piece of life of all intimate team members. All of the challenges (in work or in the personal life) we passed through together is the most memorable and grateful time for me.
